Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
- An adaptive perennial and useful addition around vegetable beds, with delicate white clusters of small flowers that attract hoverflies and ladybirds which help control garden pests.

Wild Carrot (Daucus carota)
- Producing intricate, lace-like white flowers that attract a wide variety of pollinating insects. Its airy structure adds height and movement to kitchen garden borders whilst supporting natural pest control.

Sow directly into prepared soil in early autumn or from March to May. Choose an open, sunny location with well-drained soil. Remove existing grass and weeds to reduce competition and lightly rake the surface before sowing.

Scatter seeds evenly and press down gently, do not bury them deeply. Keep the soil moist during germination, which typically takes 1–3 weeks. Once established, this mix is low-maintenance and drought-tolerant.

Deadhead flowers regularly to prolong blooming or allow them to go to seed for natural regeneration next year. These annuals complete their life cycle within a year but can re-establish themselves with light soil disturbance.
